Fixing What’s Broken: How Alset is Solving Society's Biggest Issues

The world we are living in is full of problems. If you haven’t noticed, the rich are getting richer, while the poor are getting poorer. Individuals are becoming increasingly isolated from communities and humans are producing more waste than ever before. While politicians and large corporations like to tell us that they have the solution, true change has to start from the ground up - with the people.
That’s where Alset comes in. By creating a space that allows people to connect with the community in efficient ways, Alset is countering harmful societal trends. Instead of funneling money into the pockets of billion dollar corporations, users reinvest value back into their community. Instead of promoting isolation and disconnect, Alset fosters a sense of community, both in-person and online, where the thing that brings people together is a desire for freedom and connection. Instead of subscribing to the linear, wasteful economy, Alset is a circular economy where you can get the things you need while helping others do the same.

The Traditional Economic System Doesn’t Work for the People
The people work for the economic system - and that needs to change. In our world today, there are a small group of individuals who can afford to live freely while the vast majority of people find themselves trapped in a system that requires them to sell their time for money. Money is a powerful way for humans to interact, but when that money - that value - is not recycled back into an individual’s community and is instead extracted by a corporation, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Alset counters this by ensuring that the value exchanged between users is not contributing to a cycle of economic inequality. It allows communities to retain value on their own terms and gives users the freedom to Favor, Barter or Pay. Instead of simply existing as a means for companies to make a profit, we can exist as ends that have inherent value away from the system. In this way, Alset is a radical response to the issues of our current economic system.

Isolation is Becoming the Norm
The modern age has ushered in a lot of new technologies and consequently a lot of changes. So many of these changes have been extremely beneficial for the Human species. Medical devices save more lives, communication happens in the blink of an eye and we have access to information that was unimaginable 100 years ago. While there are so many positive aspects of our modern technologies, one of the major downsides is isolation.
Many jobs that once required in-person collaboration are now completely remote. Couple that with the fact that you can order almost anything to your door in a matter of hours and stream endless content from the internet and we find that people are staying in much more. Alset sees this as a big issue but also a big opportunity. The human desire for social connection is not going anywhere. Apps like Instagram, Tik Tok and Tinder play on this innate human desire but unfortunately, their products seek to make a profit, not address the issue of isolation. Alset on the other hand doesn’t seek to make a profit and is actually addressing the isolation issue.
Alset is connecting communities in two main ways. One is in-person, where users meet face-to-face and exchange goods or services. This is perhaps the most impactful way to nurture community and it works! When people engage in meaningful transactions with others within their community, a sense of togetherness emerges. The second way Alset connects people is virtually. When users engage virtually, they may not meet in person, but they are connecting with real people in their community. When users engage in these types of interactions, there is a sense of mutual benefit that we don’t get when we order stuff from Amazon or Uber Eats. Creating this space for connection is another way that Alset is fighting against the negative trends in our society.

Society is Wasting Opportunities and Resources
You’ve heard about climate change and damage being done to our environment. This is largely a product of our current economic system and the issues that come along with it. The linear economy calls for people to throw away things that they don’t need anymore and to buy new things that they do need. This leads to an infinite amount of waste and need for money. Many large corporations would like you to think that you can make a difference by taking shorter showers, buying safer products and throwing your trash in the trash can. While these practices look good on the outside, they are minimally influential compared to companies spilling trillions of gallons of oil into the ocean or cutting down billions of acres of forest.
Our system wants you to think that buying the right products and throwing your waste into the correct bins will help save the planet. Unfortunately, it simply isn't enough to save a gallon of water or to recycle a couple plastic water bottles. While the trend towards global pollution is strong, it isn’t one that you have to subscribe to.
Instead of perpetuating this wasteful linear economy, Alset calls for true recycling, where the things that people would normally throw away are instead given to someone who can use them. When we remain enslaved to the traditional economy, we know that we are contributing to the degradation of our planet. But when we exchange goods and services with Alset, we build a community around sustainability and freedom.

Our world is full of issues - it always has been! People are increasingly isolated and wasteful under an economic system that is set up to create large wealth disparities. With this in mind, the question becomes how can we counter these trends in practical ways? The powerful influences in our current system work hard to convince you to stay the course because the longer this continues, the more powerful they become.
This has to stop. By downloading the Alset app you can embrace community in a way that has real world impacts. When we decide to define value on our own terms and keep it out of the hands of large corporations, we are making a radical statement that the current system is not working for the people. As Alset continues to grow, our impact is increasing so while individuals are achieving freedom and connection, the system as a whole is gradually shifting towards one that puts people first as well.
